All units are equipped with an electric parking brake.

All units are equipped for remote control operation.

Conversion by NS to RPU6 class included complete rewiring, pilots were rebuilt with four steps
 instead of three (on former MT-6's), and the trucks were rebuilt as needed.

Units are designed for operation with NS EMD SD40-2 slug master units 6177-6206.
