NS 624 was being assembled in the Smith Shop

With the new cab, low short hood, and electrical cabinets mounted in place on the frame, wiring of the
slug electrical components was underway.

 

 

On the rear pilot in the photo below, to the right of the coupler there is a large square block with
eight silver connectors.  Those are used to connect high voltage cables between the master
locomotive and slug in order to power the traction motors on the slug when it is in use.
